The warmth of summer and autumn is over. As I looked outside my window this morning, I thought ‘cold’. There was just a touch blue peeking through the grey overcast sky, now it is gone. The leafless, or near leafless, tree branches swayed in the wind; the grass is turning straw yellow, and the flowers have died. I thought of Isaiah 40, which I memorized years ago at Camp Elim to earn a patch. The patch is sewn on a sweatshirt in my closet, but the Word lives within my heart.
All flesh is like grass, and all the goodness thereof is like the flowers of the field, the grass withers and the flower fades but the Word of our GOD shall stand forever (Isaiah 40:6, 8).
For you personally, what compiles the good things of life? Some buy lottery tickets in hopes of winning lots of money; to them the good things are found in what they can get from money. Others chase experiences; some through substances, some through dare devil stunts, still others chase relationships. But those things, like the flowers and grass wither and fade.
Are you thirsty for peace, joy, real meaning? Do you want something that will last? Then come to JESUS. Meet with HIM in HIS word, The ones who come to HIM HE will in no way cast out; Let GOD speak to you through HIS word. What you find there will last forever. The first step is to make sure you know HIM John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10. Then get to know HIM and all the wonderful things HE promises to those who love HIM by reading HIS word 2 Peter 1:2-4-.
For the Word of GOD shall stand forever Isaiah 40:8.
Looking unto JESUS, the Author and Perfecter of my faith
