The Things He is

This will be the final in my series all about the many things Jesus is.

Back in July, I posted a blog about bread. It was all about how Jesus satisfies our hunger as the “Bread of Life“.

In August, I wrote another entitled, “Water of Life“. He quenches the parched soul.

In September, my subject was “Cleansing Fire“. Our souls are purified as the fire ravages all things unholy.

In October, I detailed the ways Jesus is like a vine in “The True Vine“. Supplying our needs, we receive our nourishment from the Vine and it sustains our lives.

Last month, along with the celebration of Easter, I was gently reminded that that Christ is like a Rock.

I could go on.

There are countless other things Jesus is like.

The truth is, Jesus is like everything good.

In my life, He’s been the knowledge that there’s hope in a hopeless situation. He’s been comfort in pain. He’s been a voice of peace in the midst of childbirth. His ways have been a path to a fulfilling life. He’s the One who led me to my life’s partner, my husband. He’s given me every good gift.

What is He to you? What roles has He filled when no one or nothing else could?

This is a truth I have come to believe: He is exactly the thing you need Him be at any given time.

Feeling tired? He’s better than a solid 8 hours. Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Are you in need? His storehouses are overflowing. Philippians 4:19 “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.”

Feeling sick? The doctor is in. James 5:15 ” And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.”

Are you wounded? He’s got a bandage. Psalm 147:3 “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds…”

Do you feel unloved? Dive in to His ocean of compassion. 1 John 4:16 “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”

Are you afraid? His perfect love drives it out. “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.”

Do you feel forgotten and alone? His children are forever on His mind. Gen. 6:13 “So she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, ‘You are the God who sees, because I have truly seen the one who looks after me.'”

Bottom line: He is all things. Whatever your need, He fills it.

Surrender yourself to Him who is all things to all people. He won’t disappoint.

Would you leave some specific “things He is” to you in the comments? I pray it will encourage us all!

Writing in answer to His call,

Hosanna Barton
