zack n mewhen he was 2

One day I was going home after a long day of taking my grandson up to the Children Hospital in Denver.  I had dropped my daughter and grandson off in Colorado Springs and had gotten back on highway 25, and the speed limit went from 65 to 75. All of a sudden I saw the tail lights of the bumper to bumper cars ahead of me flash on. I put on my brakes- probably a little too hard, for my car swerved to the right.  I yanked left on my steering wheel to avoid oncoming traffic in the right lane and get back in my own lane.  Just then the car behind me hit me and sent me flying left and I went down into the valley of the median.  I hit my head hard and the next thing I knew a cop was knocking on my window. Don’t know how long I had been out.  Still fuzzy I opened my window. The police officer wanted to call an ambulance to take me back to Colorado Springs, but I said no.  Instead I called my husband on the cell phone he insisted I carry. Mac was at a hospital in Pueblo with his dying brother and couldn’t leave.  So he called Kari, one of my daughters.  As it turned out, she was less than a mile from the scene, so she came immediately and took me to the ER in Pueblo near to where I lived.  I was bruised and had a concussion that affected my thinking, balance and really hurt.

On the up side, I wasn’t just left down in the median- someone stopped and called 911- because that was the law.  Traffic laws and speed limits are for are there for the safety of everyone.

GOD’s  laws and Sovereign acts are the same.  Take for instance, the yield sign. yield When you are going to turn right at a corner-  and the light is red, after a full stop,- you can turn right into the furthest right lane- IF there is no oncoming traffic.  But if there is oncoming traffic, you cannot turn, for you must yield to oncoming traffic.

That is what it is like for us Christians when we make plans or pray.  GOD tells us to bring our requests to HIM (Philippians 4:6).  But time and time again, HE doesn’t do exactly what we ask for.  Why?

Another car is coming… What I mean by that is GOD had other plans.  When our plans and prayer go against GOD’s perfect eternal plans, we have to yield to HIM.

JESUS taught this: “Our FATHER in heaven, hallowed be YOUR name, YOUR kingdom come, YOUR WILL BE DONE on earth as it is in heaven”(Matthew 6:10).  JESUS also live it out as HE prayed in anguish in the garden before HIS arrest. “MY FATHER, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from ME.  Yet, not as I will, but as YOU will” (Matthew 26:39,42,43).

So if your plans get blocked or GOD doesn’t give you what you ask for be assured that HE has a better plan.

Looking unto JESUS the Author and Perfecter of my faith,
