Getting candy, flowers, and love letters are all signs that someone loves you.
Did you ever get a love letter? I don’t think I ever did, unless you count GOD’s love letter to me- the Word of GOD. I read and reread HIS love letter and every time I read it HE speaks to me personally about something. For HIS love letter is living and powerful and sharper than a 2 edged sword…it discerns my thoughts and the intents of my heart (Hebrews 4:12).
Even when what GOD shows me is about me and isn’t something I want to see, GOD shows it to me because HE loves me. HE always wants the best for me. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). The Word of God is to show us GOD and what HE is like. Its aim is to benefit us.
Well, this morning I read part of a love letter. It was a long love letter and every line but a very few used the name or nick name of the one loved. The name of the one we love is always special to us. Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible and is also a love letter to the Word of GOD.
I learned GOD loved me through HIS word. I love GOD because HE first loved me and I love HIS word for through it I get to know HIM better and I am encouraged , get my assignments, and grow in my knowledge of GOD our FATHER and my LORD JESUS CHRIST. Just like I am bothered when someone says something untrue about a loved one, so it troubles me when people add to, or subtract from, or twist the Word of GOD. But today GOD reminded me that my job was just to gently state the truth and thereby open the door for the Good Shepherd. For the only one they will listen to is the Shepherd, HIMSELF (John 10:3).
Looking unto JESUS the Author and Perfecter of my faith,
